Carries out initial assessments and supports families when they are first referred to the service. Also applies for funding, writes reports and helps with activities when needed.
Likes trying food from around the world, reading and going to the gym – and secretly wants to be a weightlifter!
Sue Ward –
Young Carers Support Worker
Spends a lot of time in schools running Young Carer groups, delivering assemblies and offering one-to-one support. Also helps schools identify Young Carers and develop support policies, and attends activities and Youth Club sessions.
Likes lazy walks, socialising, reading and a good holiday – and would really love to be on Pointless.
Vanessa Brindley –
Young Carers Activity Worker
Creates the Young Carers activity programme and works with our volunteers and the rest of the team to run activities, arrange transport and complete health and safety forms. Spends a lot of time on the phone filling spaces and reminding families where they need to be.
Enjoys forest walks, theatre, gardening and dancing – although she wishes she didn’t have two left feet!
